To rent you a car we need to know who you are and that you can drive it. This page explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Jacobsen, Muelle Ribera 14, 29660 Puerto Banús, Marbella, Spain, is responsible for your data. For anything about your data, write to privacy@jacobsen.lexington.
What we collect
- When you ask for a price: your name, email, phone number, the car, the dates and where you are staying.
- When you book: a copy of the licence and passport of every driver, and the billing address.
- At the handover: the card used for the deposit, the signed walkaround and the photos of the car.
- During the rental: the car’s position and mileage, from the tracker fitted to every car.
We do not collect more than we need, and we never ask for data about health, religion or anything else unrelated to the rental.
Why we use it
- To reply to your request and prepare the booking
- To check that every driver meets the age and licence rules
- To hold and release the deposit
- To find the car if it is stolen, and to settle fines, tolls and damage
- To meet our legal duties, including the Spanish rules on registering drivers of rented vehicles
We never sell your data and we never use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only with those who need it to complete the rental: our insurer, our payment provider, the police or traffic authority when a fine is issued, and our accountants. Each one is bound to keep it confidential.
How long we keep it
Requests that never became a booking are deleted after six months. Booking records are kept for six years, as Spanish tax law requires. Tracker data is deleted 90 days after the rental ends, unless it is needed for a claim.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, take a copy of it or object to its use. Write to privacy@jacobsen.lexington and we reply within a month.
If you are not happy with our reply, you can complain to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. If the change affects a booking you already have, we tell you by email.
